Listserve Instructions

I. How to SUBSCRIBE to the PESTS Distribution List

          In order to subscribe to the PESTS distribution list, please click on this link, which will create an an e-mail message. Please type the following command into the body of the message:

SUBSCRIBE PESTS-L

Then click your SEND key (a subject header is not necessary). The list owner will receives your request and must approve it. Once this is done, you will receive a welcome message. Please save this message for future reference.

II. How to Manage Your Listserve Settings

A. Managing Your Listserve Settings Through the Web Interface.

Once you receive your welcome message, you may click on the following link to go to a page that will allow you to manage your list subscription:

On this page, please click the link titled, "Get a LISTSERV password for this server" which allows you to select or change your password. The password is used to authenticate your e-mail address for the web-based functions at this site.Once you have selected a password, then click on "Subscriber's Corner" at the following link:

http://scinfo.sc.maricopa.edu/cgi-bin/wa

Follow the instructions there for changing your managing the seetings and other aspects of your subscription.

B. Managing Your Listserve Settings By E-mail.

If you'd rather not use the web interface, you may obtain a full listing of e-mail commands by clicking on this link, which will create an e-mail message. Please type "INFO REFCARD" into the body of the message and click your SEND key (a subject header is not necessary). The list will be sent to your mailbox. Some of the more important commands are listed here:

1. Receiving Notifications of the Posting of Your Messages

• To receive a copy of your own message when it is posted:
  SET PESTS-L REPRO
• To receive only an acknowledgement that your message was posted:
  SET PESTS-L ACK NOREPRO
• To receive no copy and no acknowledgement that your message was posted:
  SET PESTS-L NOACK NOREPRO

2. Receiving Messages in Different Formats

• To receive messages in digest format:
  SET PESTS-L DIGEST
• To receive messages in index format:
  SET PESTS-L INDEX

III. How To Post Messages to the PESTS Distribution List

A. Sending a Message on a New Topic to the PESTS Distribution List

To raise new topics on the mailing list, please click the following link: PESTS-L@CMS.SC.MARICOPA.EDU, which will create an e-mail message. Please type the topic of your contribution in the subject line, and then type your contribution into the body of the message. Click your SEND key.

B. Responding to a Message Posted to the List By Another PESTS Subscriber

To send your response to the entire distribution list, please hit your REPLY key.

To send your response only to the individual who posted the message, you will need to paste his or her e-mail address into the "To" box and delete the list address.

IV. How To Access the PESTS Archives

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a
list of the available archive files by clicking on this link, which will create an e-mail message. Please type the following command into the body of the message:

INDEX PESTS-L

Then click your SEND key (a subject header is not necessary). You will be sent a list of the available archive files. Find the file(s) you want and then click on this link, which will create a new e-mail message. Please type the following command into the body of the message:

GET PESTS-L LOGxxxx

where "xxxx" refers to the file you want. Then click your SEND key (a subject header is not necessary).

VI. How To UNSUBSCRIBE from the PESTS Distribution List

To unsubscribe, you may go to the "Subscriber's Corner" (at http://scinfo.sc.maricopa.edu/cgi-bin/wa) and follow the instructions there.

Or you may click on this link, which will create an e-mail message. Please type the following command into the body of the message:

SIGNOFF PESTS-L

Then click your SEND key (a subject header is not necessary). You will receive an e-mail message confirming that you have been removed from the PESTS distribution list.
